The Indian pangolin (Manis crassicaudata) is a medium-sized mammal native to the Indian subcontinent. Covered in brown to dark brown keratin scales, it has a length of 3 to 3.5 feet, with a prehensile tail of about 2 feet. Nocturnal and solitary, the Indian pangolin feeds on ants and termites using its long, sticky tongue.
Facing threats from habitat loss, poaching, and illegal wildlife trade, it is listed as "Endangered" on the IUCN Red List. Conservation efforts focus on legal protection, awareness, and habitat preservation to ensure the survival of this unique and vital species.
